The Tielker House - Ft. Wayne Indiana

My mother's father, Emmett Tielker, built this grand house in early 1920's for his wife Kathryn and their two children, Bonnett and Robert (my mother and uncle). They only lived here a few years, Emmett lost everything in The Great depression and my grandparents divorced. I never knew my grandfather, but at least I got to visit his house.

The house in 1920.

My mother kept this framed newspaper clipping from the early 1920's. This is what led me to my Grandfather's house (thanks to much research from Google).

Side view of the house.

The living room fireplace was totally covered over when Jan and Jim bought the house, they opened it up and installed this tilework and mantle.

French doors to the living room.

The original entry crystal chandalier

The staircase.

Jan is a quilter. This one is hanging in the downstairs hall.

Jan made this dollhouse.

The original dining room chandelier, it used to be gas.

The Dining Room

The guest room, many wonderful antique quilts.

Jan & Jim, The present owners of the house. They have lived here for 25 years.

Amazing that you found it,... did the present owners just invite you to come in?
