Update from Homosassa

We got quite a bit of rain, the creek behind my camper came up over it's bank to within about 30 feet of my space.  This campground has been here forever and from talk this was nothing.  Some people have lived here for over 20 years.  I will have to ask when it began.  I admit I do have a fondness for the older campgrounds......the foliage is more mature and the site are more individualized and overall the place has more character.

The State Park I will be working at is http://www.floridastateparks.org/homosassasprings/default.cfm.  It is located conveniently just a couple miles from my campground, I will be able to bicycle there I think, there isn't a path, but the road looks like it has a level grassy shoulder.  I am starting on the 21st.  Just two four hour days at first.

This weekend there are two big events in this area, a Blues Concert (I already have my ticket) and a Seafood Festival, that one I will volunteer and help at......I here there is free food for the help.  Should be fun.  I am getting to know more people around here, have even made a "best friend", as women tend to do.  There was a Ladies Luncheon and about 25 showed up, we all ate together at a local restaurant, guess this is a monthly event, yippee.  And next week is a pot luck.  Everyone has to bring a dish that begins with the letter "T".  I love turnips, so googled turnips and came up with a pretty simple recipe.  Should be fun to see what everyone brings.  They have bingo twice a week.  I am not interested.  Then there is music every other Friday night.  And of course holiday plans.  Oh, and cards a couple times a week.  OH, there are two games I would like to play, but have yet to see anyone else interested.....pool and foosball.  There is a really large rec hall.  Coffee every morning, $0.25 a cup.  I go up sometimes.  Usually when the weather is bad and I have to use the hall for my exercises.

So, life is good.
