080808 The Day My House Sold

An auspicious beginning don't you think? Well, come along with me on my new adventure into the world of "One Woman's Way" (thank you Patricia for the title). Or to steal a line from ole blue eyes Frank Sinatra, remember him?....."I'm doin' it my way". Sold my house, lock stock and antiques, all the way down to my Grandmother's china, threw away my son's early school work, most of my clothes. I was brutal. Gave a lot of stuff to charity. All my friends have bits a pieces that I can visit when I visit them. This is a process that begun many years ago with a vague dream, own an RV and just travel. So after I retired from the Health Dept. in 2004 I bought one, took many trips, one for five months. You can see that adventure on http://www.travelswithchris.blogspot.com/. And then last summer at Mary Houriet's 70th birthday party, just about a year ago, an old friend, Carol, said to me "what are you still doing in the NEK?". You see, many of my friends had moved away. Well, that simple question sparked a fire in me. Just what WAS I still doing there? Selling antiques on eBay, hangin' with a couple friends that are still here, looking at a future of senior meal sites and aging in place. My son is 30 and past time to fiend for himself. That very weekend I put into motion a plan to sell all my possesions and move into my motorhome (I call her "The Rig"). It was hard work, took me a year of intense focus and determination, but now it is a reality! Here is a pic of my last night at home.
